Varadero is a resort town in the province of Matanzas, Cuba and it is best known as a tourist resort town, with more than 20 km of white sandy beaches.
In addition to its most valued resource, the beach, Varadero has natural attractions such as caves and a chain of easily accessed virgin cays. There are also cultural, historical and environmental attractions in the vicinity, such as the cities of Matanzas and Cárdenas and the Zapata Peninsula. Varadero, which is a free port, also possesses facilities for scuba diving, deep-sea fishing, yachting and other water sports.
More than 1 million tourists visit Varadero annually.
Varadero is primarily visited by European and Canadian tourists. The number of U.S. tourists visiting Varadero, although increasing, has been limited because of the U.S. government restrictions that make it difficult for U.S. citizens to visit Cuba as tourists. Varadero is home to one of two Canadian Consulates in Cuba.
Amazing beaches and parties, wildlife rich and vibrant city, all wrapped in a peninsula that can rightfully claim to be the most singular destination on the planet.
Covering Cuba's narrow Peninsula de Hicacos, is a popular beach resort town. Along its 20 km of Atantic Ocean coastline is a string of all-inclusive hotel and spa complexes, and a golf court. Near the Peninsula's eastern tip is Reserva Ecologica Varahicacos, a preserve with trails and an ancient burial cave. Parque Josone is a park with a pond and gardens.
